A Treasure Trove of Data – Driving Licence, DQC and Driver Cards

Licence Link, the online licence checking service now provides checks for the validity of Driver Qualification and Tachograph Driver cards. An additional free service to all Licence Link users.

Using the existing Access to Driver Data (ADD) licence checking service provided by the DVLA, Licence Link, can now access additional Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Driver Qualification Card (DQC) and Tachograph Driver Card details through a simple process of requesting this data through the existing licence checking service, real time or scheduled. All that is required is the consent from the driver through mandate or eConsent.

The benefits to the HR and Fleet Manager will be:

  • A 24 hour a day 7 days a week real time Licence/CPC/Tacho checking facility.
  • Single request responses with instant access to accurate data.
  • CPC/DQC Card Expiry dates
  • Tachometer Driver Card Expiry dates.
  • Free with a Driving Licence check so no additional cost per check.
  • Less risk with improved duty of care procedures.
  • Less administration, freeing up time for HR and Fleet Managers

Previously discussed in “A Trio of Checks – Driving Licence, DQC and Driver Cards” within this News section, the following paragraph states:

The three requirements for an LGV and PCV Driver are first, to obtain the correct licence category, secondly a Certificate of Professional Competence CPC and thirdly the recording of driving hours using a tachograph. The trio of cards being the Driving Licence, the Driver Qualification Card and the Driver card.

The article goes on to state:

These requirements, once achieved, are valid for periods of time and subject to scrutiny by the Operator and the DVLA. This ongoing observation is necessary in order to fulfil the driver’s obligation to drive legally and the operator’s obligations to ensure they are keeping check on the validity of their driver’s legality to drive.

Providing this treasure trove of data is a fantastic leap forward for the fleet industry enabling better risk management and road safety procedures. Significantly this is a direct response to the needs of nearly all of the Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) and Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) fleet operators in the UK who have struggled with the administration of having to monitor driving entitlement beyond driving licence validation.

For those new to Licence Link why not request a demo?
